Anyone can call themselves "natural." Few do the actual work of certified organic, regenerative agriculture. Here's exactly how we farm.
We don't cut corners. We don't compromise. Here are the six core practices that make Osorio Family Farms 100% certified organic.
This is the foundation of everything we do. We never apply synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or fungicides to our crops. When pests show up — and they do — we deal with them naturally: hand removal, beneficial insects, companion planting, and crop rotation.
It's harder. It's slower. But it's the only way to guarantee that what ends up on your plate is truly organic and chemical-free.
Conventional farms douse their fields in synthetic nitrogen fertilizers — boosting yields short-term while degrading soil long-term. We feed our soil, not our plants. We use compost, aged manure, cover crops, and organic amendments to build the kind of living soil that grows plants naturally rich in nutrients.
After every harvest, we plant cover crops — clover, vetch, rye, and other species that fix nitrogen, prevent erosion, and feed beneficial soil microbes. The soil is never bare. This is one of the most important regenerative organic practices on our farm.
Traditional plowing destroys soil structure and releases carbon. We use minimal-till and no-till methods wherever possible — preserving the underground network of fungi, bacteria, and beneficial insects that make our soil truly alive.
Every seed we plant is certified organic, non-GMO, and often heirloom — meaning we save and replant our best seeds year after year. This preserves biodiversity, flavor, and the genetic heritage of plants that have nourished families for generations.
California water is precious. We use drip irrigation, mulching, and soil-building practices that retain moisture naturally — using a fraction of the water that conventional farms require, while keeping our certified organic produce thriving.
The difference between conventional and certified organic isn't a marketing label — it's a real difference in what ends up on your plate.
